Landscape Construction, Inc. was incorporated in Minnesota in l960. We sub-contracted for Bachman's Nursery for many years and during that time built some of the first boulder retaining walls in the Twin Cities area. We included site preparation, plantings, stone or brick retaining walls with brick, concrete and stone patios, decks, pergolas, stone or brick swimming pool decks, waterfalls, fountains with statuary or jets, reflecting pools and sculptures. We began working with Walt Gustafson in 1960 building all of the water features his company referred to us and from whom we purchased fountain equipment and we learned a great deal about water hydraulics in the process. Because of these referrals and those of satisfied customers we have never advertised our company preferring to remain small in size to give our full attention to one project at a time. All of this experience uniquely culminated into a specialized water features focus; being able to build the pools of concrete or fiberglass and to veneer the structures with any type of material and create surrounding enhancements and to design a workable feature from a client’s idea. We build the features to last and operate for many years. In fact, we built a stone waterfall in 1960 which is still operating today near Southdale. We use many kinds of materials such as taconite with which we built two different weeping water walls indoors with a waterfall. We recently designed an outdoor waterfall/fountain from the owner’s idea and as part of the total project built a concrete paver patio surrounding it and veneered an existing concrete terrace with colored concrete and stamped it to resemble stone. We built a hillside concrete sculpture for the U. of M. We built a 20 ft. high concrete structure indoors and veneered it with hand made glass tiles for water to fall from a top weir and fabricated a fiberglass inverted scallop at the top. Our specialty is a hands-on completed project, that some have said could not be done. We spent 11 months in Mexico building a waterfall of native stone and incorporated artificial stone with it and a flight of stairs of molded concrete to resemble stone. We often build scale models of a proposed project so that our clients can see how the completed structure will look. We have worked throughout the Twin Cities area, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, North Dakota, Mexico and Canada. In a 3/11/07 Dunn County News article written by Jay Gilbertson, he describes Loren's work as "complex, elaborate projects that use water to delight the eyes and ears as well as soothe the soul.... Usually unseen by the public, there is sophisticated engineering within — intricate piping systems, turbine pumps and the complex electrical components necessary for the simple movement of Rogneby’s passion: water.... He started off first working with the earth. His father was an inventor who created the first powered sod-cutter. As a young man, Rogneby got to work and by the time he turned 21, he had a large crew of landscapers working with home developers. One day at a job site, he was asked if he could build a stone wall.“One thing led to another,” Rogneby reflects with a grin. “I got requests for retaining walls, walkways, patios and then my true calling landed literally at my feet — someone wanted a water feature. The rest, as they say, is history!”... "If you’re good,” Rogneby explains, “your personality will be in it. It’s all in the eye.” |
